Israeli documentarian Yair Lev’s powerful project becomes personal when he films his own investigation into his grandfather’s identity. After Lev’s mother runs into some difficulty surrounding an inheritance, the family discovers a former president of an Austrian Jewish community with the same identity of their grandfather. You Only Die Twice is a story of surviving The Holocaust that entangles Nazis and their victims into a complex web. Lev’s documentary is for anyone with a love of compelling history; full of surprises, confrontation, collaboration and, yes, even romance. You Only Die Twice is a powerful film that can’t help but dwell on the minds and in the hearts of anyone lucky enough to experience it.
