When ambitious seventeen-year-old Doaa "Angelina" Fares decides to be the first Druze woman to enter the 2007 Miss Israel beauty pageant, her sudden fame clashes with the traditional Druze community. A deluge of insults, accusations and threats to her safety culminate in the arrest of five men, among them two of her uncles, for plotting her murder. Their broad media coverage spirals Doaa and her supportive family toward an inevitable choice to either pursue Doaa's dream or to honor their community. Personal and provocative, this film represents conflicting standards of beauty, success, and duty for women everywhere.
