The year is 1947. 24 year old Eli (Avraham Aviv Alush) lives on a kibbutz where he works all day, every day. After a chance encounter, Margalit (Adi Bielski) pursues Eli and discovers that he’s clandestinely helping the Palmach smuggle Holocaust survivors into Palestine. His mission only makes her love him more deeply, but his reality is very different from hers:
she’s a drama student and theatre lover who is reluctant to give up a life of creativity. Although her love is strong enough to make the necessary sacrifices, turbulent times in pre-state Israel reveal that love may not be enough to overcome all.
The movie is based on the true love affair between Pnina Gary (who contributes to the script) and Eli Ben-Zvi, son of the second President of the State of Israel.
