The Nova Music Festival was supposed to be a celebration of life, love, and music for thousands of young people but became one of the first targets when Hamas launched the deadliest terror attack in Israel’s history. We Will Dance Again is told through the eyes of more than a dozen survivors, many of whom videotaped their experiences as the massacre unfolded. The film weaves together eyewitness accounts from over a dozen survivors, along with footage captured by both the victims and Hamas.

While the films challenging and emotionally charged scenes may be difficult to watch, it ultimately delivers a powerful message of solidarity, friendship, and humanity in the face of evil, and highlights the bravery of the young Israeli spirits who survived the attack and became heroes against all odds.

This screening is brought to the Philadelphia audience in cooperation with Philadelphia Jewish Film and Media, Kaiserman JCC, and National Museum of American Jewish History

will you show this again? It was sold out?

Not sure how a judge can force a theater to show this film against their will. Perhaps there will be a lawsuit against you. Honestly, I don't know who should win this dispute. I don't doubt many of those associated with the festival don't want it to be a tool of nationalism. Perhaps the Israeli consulate should not have been involved, as this becomes primarily a political issue, not cultural

As you may have seen on social media or read in the news, there was a coordinated attempt to block the Israeli Film Festival from presenting our music documentary The Child Within Me at BMFI in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. This attempt to censor the arts and culture of Israel was not successful.

The Bryn Mawr Film Institute decided to cancel the screening yesterday, a day prior to its scheduled date. However, the Israeli Film Festival has filed for and was granted a court order earlier today requiring BMFI to meet its commitment to the festival and the community, and proceed with the screening as planned.

IFF’s mission and mandate is to connect all of us through the beauty, vibrance, humor, history and soul that shine throughout Israeli’s unforgettable films. For 28 seasons, we’ve shared these wonderful dramas, documentaries and comedies and are deeply proud of the impact they’ve had in bringing people together.

The show must (AND WILL) go on.

Guest Speaker: Elinor Sela, Actor and Screenwriter

Eleanor Sela is a screenwriter, actress and producer. She created and wrote the feature film Seven Blessings, which won 10 Israeli Academy Awards, including Best Film and Best Screenplay. It was chosen by the Israeli film critics society as the best Israeli film of 2023 and has also been selected as Israel’s entry to the 2024 Oscars. Eleanor acted in one of the leading roles in the film. She created the successful stand-up show A Thousand Faces, One Truth – an artistic stand-up startup with customized writing. Each show is a one-off, and Eleanor has performed it in Israel and abroad for over a decade in front of the largest commercial bodies in Israel. Additionally, Eleanor has written, directed, and produced video content for numerous companies. Her book From a Life of Permission to a Life of Inspiration was published in 2021 and became a bestseller.

Shortly after his father dies, Bobby returns to England and finds an old suitcase revealing the truth his father hid about his family who perished in the Holocaust. Bobby invites Manuel, his childhood friend with a German background, to translate the documents. Manual shares that he too recently discovered a family secret: his great uncle was the infamous Nazi director Veit Harlan, who directed Jew Suss - the most notorious anti-Semetic propaganda film in history. Together they embark on a journey back to Berlin that tests their friendship.

MURANOW

The Muranów neighborhood in Warsaw was a flourishing and important Jewish center. During World War II the neighborhood was turned into the ”Warsaw Ghetto” When the war ended the neighborhood was rebuilt with the rubble of its own destruction.

Today thousands of Polish people live in the green and spacious Muranow neighborhood, yet its dark past keeps haunting it. Polish residents claim that Jewish ghosts live in the neighborhood. They say at night they shake off the dust and ashes that cover them, and wander the streets they once lived in. Other residents think the ghosts are a metaphor for the life, culture and memories of the Jewish people buried beneath the ground.
